Ceramics are often portrayed as a stand-alone object. Presented in front of a coloured cloth, as a still life with food or flowers,... Photographs of a finished product in a beautiful setting.
I want to tell a story in this setting, just like there is a story in ceramics. I see my work as bodies; a body of clay with a skin of glaze. I see the similarities in the fragility, the diversity, the porosity, the sensuality, but also in the beauty of the imperfection.
The so-called imperfections of the human body and skin are for me the most important inspiration.
